Our Dog House History
I was lucky enough to be raised by parents who love & respect the animal kingdom. They taught me that our furry friends were always a part of our family – not merely animals used for protection or mouse hunting; nor were they excluded from family events. All my life, I’ve rescued homeless, abandoned, and hurt pets. My mom used to tease me that my very first words were… “Look what I found, can I keep him?”
As an adult, I was lucky enough again to meet and marry a man that shared my passion to help those that cannot speak for themselves. In 1996 we started Catnip Trails, Inc. a private rescue in Central Florida. We have saved hundreds, if not thousands of cats, dogs, donkeys and a few livestock. Currently living with 4 dogs, 7 cats, and 2 donkeys – all rescues, we’ve always strived to give them the best life possible. In 2008, I attended canine massage therapy and healing touch for animals training to ensure all rescue pets get their day at the spa — Party included!
It was Easter and the family was gathering at our house. We have 2 daughters and 3 grand-dogs and were searching for some Easter games for the dogs to play. We quickly realized there were few choices when it came to holiday and/or themed dog parties. Thus, Dog House Parties – all inclusive party kits for dogs – was born.
We have always tried to give something back to the rescue community. So, for every Dog House Party sold, a portion of our profits are donated to rescues around the globe. We currently support local rescues & shelters, national animal welfare organizations, and even the Save-A-Sato and Save-A-Gato foundations in Puerto Rico.
Every life is precious – celebrate it in style with a Dog House Party!

Meet the Mutts
Of course, Dog House Parties was inspired by our own furry family members! With 4 dogs and 3 grand-dogs, we have lots of fur flying at our parties!
The original mascot sisters: Barkley & Tasha
Rescued at 5 weeks old, Barkley & Tasha quickly stole our hearts. Both German Shepherd mixes, these sisters were best pals their whole lives. We were very lucky to have spent 13 ½ wonderful years with Tasha and a whopping 15 years with Barkley.
The Alpha Male Mascot: Amos
Amos is a fun loving boy with a very big personality. He is the leader of his pack and loves all his girls equally. Amos was rescued at 11 weeks old and is a black lab, chow mix with webbed feet. Quite the digger, he can dig tunnels under concrete and fences, and was named after a coal miner.
Our Baby: Mai Peanut
Mai Peanut (Pnut for short) is the most magnificent dog we’ve ever met. A pure white German Shepherd, she is very athletic and loves to fetch the ball – she always catches it on the first bounce. She can also play soccer and shoot hoops. Pnut is 8 years old but thinks she’s still a baby.
The Twins: Bella & Luna
Bella & Luna were rescued from an abusive & neglectful home up north and traveled to Florida by Echo White Shepherd Rescue. Yes, both pure white German Shepherds, they think Pnut is their mom. At 60 pounds, Bella is convinced she is a lap dog. Luna earned the nickname Luna-Duke after Marmaduke© for her huge paws and massive “presence”.
The Grand Dogs:
Kayla & Slider
These two posh puppies are Clumber Spaniels and might take issue with being called “Mutts”. But to us, the term “mutts” is used in an endearing way to describe all our furry friends. Kayla & Slider both have the softest fur and sweetest personalities.
Freckles
Adopted from a local rescue in Central Florida, Freckles is a mixed breed dog with very high energy. She loves to romp & play at our farm and keeps all the dogs on their toes.
